Pressure sensor marks altitude for drones

Bosch-BMP388

The 24-bit device measures from 300hPa to 1250hPa, while consuming 3.4 µA at 1Hz

“It features a best-in-class temperature coefficient offset between 20 and 65°C, the BMP388 delivers accurate altitude measurement over a broad temperature range,” said Mouser, which is stocking the device, and foresees it being used for altitude stabilisation in consumer drones, vertical velocity indication, weather forecasting, healthcare, in augmented reality (AR) devices, virtual reality (VR) devices, and to enhanced GPS accuracy.

While raw data is available, a built-in infinite impulse response (IIR) filter can be used to minimises short-term disturbances, like those caused by slamming doors or windows. A FIFO memory is available to increase necessary reading interval.

Packaging is 2 x 2mm 10pin metal-lid LGA.
