12bit ADC runs at 10Gsample/s

AD9213

An integrated output buffer is provides, with a 50Ω 1.4Vp-p input and 6.5GHz bandwidth.

It is intended for software defined systems in aerospace and defence, as well as instrumentation and communications.

Better digital oscilloscopes are one possible application, according to Analog, as are both spectroscopy and chemical analysis.

High resolution long range radar is a possible military application, and the wider Nyquist bandwidth could allow satellite communications at increased bandwidth.

In wireless comms, new wide-band digital pre-distortion architectures will be possible.

Packaging is 12 x 12mm 192 lead BGA and the price matches the high performance, at $3,652.49.

There is also a 6Gsample/s version, the AD9213-6GEBZ.

AD9213

  • Noise spectral density 154dBfs/Hz
  • SFDR 68dBc (1GHz, −1dBfs)
  • 5.1W consumption at 10Gsample/s
  • Over-voltage protection
  • 16-lane JESD204B output (up to 16Gbit/s line rate)

There is an evaluation kit, the EVAL-AD9213, which provides all of the support circuitry required to operate the ADC in its various modes and configurations. It is designed to interface directly with the firm’s ADS8-V1EBZ FPGA-based data capture card, allowing users to download captured data for analysis. The device control and subsequent data analysis can be performed using the ACE software package.
